Our mission

As a collective network of galleries, we seek to:

  • Connect with patrons and students through engaging exhibitions exploring contemporary art and culture.
  • Support the mission and legacy of the Art and Design Department.
  • Serve as a professional development resource for students preparing for careers in the visual arts and design.
  • Foster an environment of equity, diversity, exploration, and experimentation for Missouri State students, the Springfield community, and the Midwest region.
  • Dedicate a minimum of 50% annual programming to artists, designers, and scholars from historically underrepresented communities to focus on elevating those formally silenced voices and educating our community through equal representation in all exhibitions and programming.

We look forward to seeing you in the galleries and online.

Our Commitment

Using art and design to communicate the history and intersectionality of human lives is central to our mission through education and civic engagement. The Art and Design Department is committed to active, intentional and ongoing engagement with all people, in the curriculum, and in communities. We aim to increase one’s awareness, content knowledge, cognitive sophistication and empathic understanding of the complex ways individuals interact within systems and institutions.
